Dealing with the Unsaved
"Ye are of
your
father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer
from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because
there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a
liar,
and the father of it. And because I tell
you
the truth, ye believe me not."
John 8:44, 45
At one time, each of us was lost in sin and
shame, but now we, as born-again Christians praise Jesus for
the gift of salvation. We know that not all men and women
know Christ Jesus as we know Him; this is a given fact.
Since we have experienced being lost in sin, one would
think, our experiences would give us a greater advantage.
Let us face the truth, we know how the unsaved will react
and what they think, as we practiced their actions in our
past ourselves; we have been there. Some actions are not so
bad while other actions, we find despicable.
We should not find it difficult to deal with
the unsaved when it comes down to witnessing, but herein
lies the dilemma that we all face as born-again Christians.
I believe we deal with uneasy feelings when confronting the
lost, because of the sin and shame from which we were
rescued is still afresh in our minds. We abhor the thoughts
and memories of our past, but you and I know that is exactly
how Satan bombards our minds at every opportunity. We know
this because he uses the lost individual to remind us, using
our past against us every time we go to witness. Many times
this is the very discouragement and excuse a Christian uses
to justify their avoidance of the entire situation. However,
we soon discover that avoiding an opportunity to witness for
Christ is not that easy. When we are confronted with the
most golden of opportunities to witness, it is not that easy
to turn from our Lord and Saviour’s Great Commission. It is
at these times where the power of Christ makes all the
difference in this world. Being empowered by God's very own
Holy Spirit emboldens us to the point of feeling
bulletproof. I have discovered that when I spend more time
in the Word and in prayer, the Holy Spirit better prepares
me for confrontations from Satan thru others, as we know he
attacks at every opportunity. It is for this reason that we,
as a child of God, be prepared by putting on the whole armor
of God as the Apostle Paul talks about in Ephesians 6:10-19.
Paul encourages us to be prepared for the confrontations
with Satan because they are surely coming. As a born-again
child of God, we have all the resources we need in Christ
Jesus. I encourage you; be bold to carry the Gospel message
to the lost, but remember, allow Christ to give you the
wisdom and courage to speak as a messenger of God. It is
only then that we will become successful witnesses for
Christ. Someone came to you one day with the message of
truth, and as Paul states in God’s Word, it is that very
fact alone that makes you and me among the saved, a debtor
to all men. It is the very least I can do for Christ.
Let us pray:
Holy Father; I pray in Jesus
name and praise you for saving me and keeping me by your
power. I praise you for the opportunity and the power of my
witness. I know and understand that I can only accomplish
these things by your uplifting power and desire to save
others. Lord, please give me the desire I need to carry this
witness to others. I pray for opportunities to say something
on your behalf. Please, Lord, give me the Holy Ghost
boldness I need each day to be faithful to your Word and
help me to encourage my brothers and sisters in this world
also. Holy Father, go with me in this day and orchestrate
this day, as you would have it to be. Lord, please give us
safety today, and I praise you for my daily bread, in Jesus'
name I pray, AMEN.
