Why [bad] Things Happen to Good People
"And,
behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the
day that these things shall be performed,
because thou believest not my words, which shall be
fulfilled in their season."
Luke
1:20
{Omen; signs; visions; beliefs; unbelief;
being skeptical; superstitious?}
Sometimes people around us do not understand
why we must do the things we do. At times, we do not
understand ourselves, but we know there is something
happening in our lives that will affect our future.
Sometimes, we tend to look forward to the outcome, yet we
have no clue when or where the results will appear. Knowing
or trying to understand the will of God can be a great
mystery for some people. The Scriptures tell us in Ephesians
4:17 -24 that to gain an understanding of the will of God,
one needs to devote their life to studying the Word. God
will reveal things to us as we gain understanding of His
written Word.
An angel informed Zacharias why he was to be
struck dumb. Zacharias made the mistake of asking Gabriel
for a sign. God desires that we simply take Him at His word
to perform His promises. I do not believe God issues
problems in our lives without first giving us a warning; a
hint in our spirit as to what is going to take place in our
lives through our conscience. I can always tell when I have
offended the Holy Spirit because of the bad feeling that
immediately follows an action or something I have said. The
Holy Spirit that resides in the born-again Christian gives
us the insight that is necessary for communion with God the
Father. God wants His children to know the truth of matters
and He provides information through His Spirit. God leaves
it up to us to make the right choice, to believe Him or not.
Our belief or unbelief is rewarded appropriately by His
wisdom. Don't act surprised when misfortunes befall you but
try to understand there is a lesson involved regardless of
whether we can see it. In all reality, I have probably
asked for more misfortune through my unbelief than I have
verbally asked for forgiveness. I ask the soul-searching
question, is God unjust or unfair? Our Holy God is above
all, a gentleman and a wonderful, loving, and wise Father
who truly knows best for His child. We can rest assured that
whatever befalls us; it is all according to the will of God.
I firmly believe that my God is a sovereign and providential
God of my life. In time, we will learn patience and take
everything that comes our way in stride.
Let us pray:
Holy Father, I praise you for this day in
which you have given me another opportunity to share my
faith with others. I pray in Jesus name that you will give
me the ability to discern right from wrong, staying as close
as I can to the Word of God. You are my fortress and high
tower. You are my love and protection from evil. I praise
your wisdom and ability to protect me from our adversary,
the devil. Thank you for meeting my every need and thank you
for answered prayers. Holy Father, go with me in this new
day and guide my feet to bring honor and glory to your name.
In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
