Militant Christians

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you,
that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye
are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
John 13:34, 35

Being a militant Christian is an oxymoron. The Scripture's teach us that an individual cannot be in good standing with our Lord and not love one another. By Bible definition, a Christian is one who can find it in their hearts to love and forgive, even when it is undeserving and in certain circumstances, seemingly impossible. They present, act, and have the mind of Christ in any given situation. You might ask, but how can a person perform these things according to the teachings of Christ? One easy answer; through the power and will of God's Holy Spirit that dwells in every born-again Christian. This is where the rubber meets the road, the litmus test, so to speak. In today's society, there are so many religious and “professing” Christians, yet they are void of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom that comes only from Him. This is the reason behind many “Christians” acting like the lost and unsaved. It is embarrassing to witness another Christian fail miserably in their display of militancy, damaging their testimony and bringing shame to the name of Christ. Sometimes, I honestly believe that Satan planned it that way as to bring a “black eye” to Christ. How else could his devilish work carry so much weight, except when a Christian stumbles and very possibly, bring others down with him. Christians, do not let Satan use you to the point of losing your testimony. Once your testimony is gone, it is the hardest thing in the world to recover. Being a militant Christian is like trying to mix oil and water. It just does not sit well and that militant attitude carries with it tremendous consequences. Christians possess the ability to forgive and can love others because we are forgiven and loved by the very one who died in our place. This ability comes from Christ Himself, the One whom we all had a part in hanging Him on the cross of Calvary. You might be saying, I wasn’t there, how could I partake in this atrocity of the ages? It was our sins, your sins, and mine, that nailed Christ on the cross. Christ paid the sin debt for every man, woman, boy and girl, for all time and eternity. We each took part in the events of Calvary. Therefore, we as born-again Christians, all partake in Christ's victory over death, Hell, and the grave. We possess the same power over evil and can overcome obstacle. We are victorious because of Christ and His finished work. Therefore, we are no longer shackled to sin, hatred, or the grudges that others possess in their personal lives. No doubt, militant Christians are void of knowledge, wisdom, and the truth of matters. They could very possibly be void of Christ in their lives, professing but never possessing. The Scriptures tell us that the tree is known by the fruit it bares. It is time to examine our fruit. Are we truly like Christ? Are we truly Disciples of Christ?

Let us pray:

Holy Father, I praise you for another day and I praise you for my daily bread. I praise you for forgiveness of sins and trespasses that I am guilty of each day. Holy Father, I humble myself at your feet and ask You to cleanse me and sanctify me through the reading and studying of your Holy Word. I praise you Father, for your love and tenderness towards me. I know in my heart that I am undeserving of any good thing. I praise you Father, for your compassion and guidance each day. Go with me in this day and please give my loved ones and me safety, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
